Junior Downhill Coaching Day
Top coaching team Pro Ride Guides have collaborated with the Ride in Peace charity again to bring junior Downhill riders a great opportunity. Together they will be running two junior downhill coaching days for 11-17 year olds at the Forest of Dean in the South and Hamsterley Forest in the North. Aspiring racers and downhill riders will get the opportunity to learn from the Pro Ride Guides team who are elite racers and full time coaches.
Forest of Dean – 29 July 2014 – £35 per rider
Hamsterley Forest – 30 July 2014 – £35 per rider
Coach Ben Deakin will be leading the downhill training days, with assistance from the Pro Ride Guides team that includes former World Cup Downhill racer Phil Shucksmith.
Ride in Peace is a non-registered charity that was set up in memory of two young Downhill racers Ben Ineson and Tom Rodgers, who tragically died in a car crash back in 2009. Dave Carpenter of Ride in Peace say’s ‘we want the boys enthusiasm and love for racing bikes to be passed on to the next generation of racers. I’ve known Pro Ride Guides for a long time now, and I’m really happy and confident that they can inspire and help young riders achieve their goals.’
Additional information – The training days will take place from 10-4. Please see our map on the main coaching page for the exact locations. Riders must be at least 11 years old on the day and must bring their own suitable bike.
Forest of Dean – 29 July 2014
Hamsterley Forest – 30 July 2014
Coaching will take place on the compact downhill tracks of the Forest of Dean and Hamsterley Forest. There’s huge variety of terrain from jumps and drops to gnarly rock gardens. We’ll be looking at how to ride downhill features smoothly with confidence, and how to shave precious seconds off your runs.
Riders will receive a full information pack when booking. All riders will need to bring a fully serviceable bike, helmet and knee pads. We recommend that all riders wear body protection. You’ll also need to bring spares for your bike, a packed lunch with snacks and plenty of water.
